A big fluffy scrunchie! made in 10 min!

In addition to being an easy and fun project, making scrunchies allows you to upcycle and repurpose fabric scraps. Instead of letting those small remnants go to waste, you can transform them into cute hair accessories. This not only helps reduce waste but also adds a unique and eco-friendly touch to your scrunchie collection. By reusing materials, you can create beautiful and sustainable fashion pieces that reflect your individual style while minimizing your environmental impact. So, the next time you have leftover fabric from another project, consider turning it into a stylish scrunchie instead of letting it gather dust in your craft stash.

Making your own scrunchies can be a fun and rewarding DIY project. With just a few materials and some simple sewing techniques, you can create stylish and personalized hair accessories in no time. Don't be intimidated if you're a beginner - making a scrunchie is actually quite easy! All you need is fabric, elastic, and a sewing machine or needle and thread. Cut a strip of fabric, sew it into a tube, thread the elastic through, and voila! You'll have a trendy and custom scrunchie to showcase your unique style. Get creative with different prints and fabrics to match your outfits or make thoughtful handmade gifts for friends and family. So, why not give it a try and add a touch of DIY flair to your hair accessories collection?

What did i need for this pattern?

  • 15x150cm square fabric, i reccomend cotton

  • +/- 24 cm of elastic

  • Basic sewing supplies like an sewing machine, needle, thread, scissors, etc

1. Start by cutting a rectangular piece of fabric, preferably cotton.

2. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, with the right sides facing each other.

3. Sew along the long edge, creating a tube of fabric. Leave both ends open.

4. Turn the tube inside out, you can use a safety pin, the right side should now be facing outwards.

5. Cut a piece of elastic.

6. Attach a safety pin to one end of the elastic and feed it through the tube, gathering the fabric as you go.

7. Once the elastic has been threaded through, overlap the ends and sew them securely together.

8. Finally, overlap the ends of the fabric tube, by about 3cm, fold them to the inside and stitch them together to create the scrunchie's band

9. Trim any excess thread and fabric, and your jumbo scrunchie is ready to use!
